The mission of the Ambassadors International Ballet Folklorico dance organization is to promote and disseminate the Hispanic and Texan Culture and to promote cultural exchanges between the Hispanic community and the people of the various cultures in our City of Houston, State of Texas and United States of America. To achieve and accomplish these goals, the Ambassadors International Ballet Folklorico dance organization teaches the traditional cultural dance of Latino countries around the world to youth and adults, Hispanic and non-Hispanic alike, and showcases these dances through the presentation of programs in collaboration with the local educational institutions, corporations, foundations and local neighborhoods. These programs include a diverse annual citywide parades, citywide forums, community festivals and various local community workshops.
Join AIBF as we honor all those who passed before us through our cultural celebration of Dia De Los Muertos! As part of continuing the celebration of its 40th anniversary, Ambassadors International Ballet Folklorico invites you to this free, fun and family friendly community event that has something for everyone in your family to love and experience in Houston's historic East End. Enjoy traditional Mexican treats such as pan dulce (sweet bread), raspas (snow cones) with traditional Mexican flavored syrups, Mexican hot chocolate, churros and more! Try to win a prize by playing one of our many games including Mexican Loteria and pin the sugar skull on the skeleton! Come and get your face painted with a Day of the Dead themed illustration and join the community in honoring its loved ones by bringing your own family photos to add to our ofrenda (altar). And of course, be sure to stay and watch one of AIBF's hour long performances that afternoon when our dancers will bring to life the vibrant and beautiful culture that is home to Dia De Los Muertos. This free to the public event will truly showcase for you, your family and the entire community the beauty that is coming together to celebrate with those who came before us with all those around us.
We could not be prouder of our Executive Director and co-founder, Ms. Nelly Moyano Fraga, who was bestowed this month with the Mayor's Hispanic Heritage Lifetime Achievement Award!! More than that, Mayor Turner declared October 4th as Nelly Moyano Fraga Day in our great city of Houston!
Congratulations, Mrs. Fraga!!! We, and all AIBF alumni and families, are so grateful that 40 years ago you made it a priority in your life to keep the cultural traditions of Hispanic countries alive for future generations.
Because of you, your commitment, your passion and your love and belief in the youth, hundreds, if not thousands, of Houston's youth have grown to be proud Latinos who know the traditions of the countries from which they or their families come and who believe in the importance of celebrating and sharing their roots with our community, city, state, country and world. Thank you for being who you are! We are so incredibly proud and blessed to know you.
We are excited to announce that we have moved practice spaces to help accomodate our growing AIBF family! Classes are now held at our new practice facility, Morales Radio Hall. Thank you, Morales Family, for helping us keep our roots in East End where they have been for the past 40 years! We are excited for all of that lies ahead for us and our AIBF family!
